There you will find an updated list of products available for that age group. You will also be able to gain insight as to how they operate, top features, current pricing and more. In order to limit the amount of duplicate information we provide. We will do our best not to post the same products from younger age groups into older ones. Please note that the recommended ages provided in the following sections are the recommended ages given by Hasbro and not my personal opinion or the opinions of others. I’m aware that many of these toys are usable by children outside of the posted age restrictions.
The purpose of this page and subsequent pages is to give you a resource to help narrow down your search some. Each age group will be divided into two sections. The top will consist of every available Nerf gun by age group using Hasbro’s posted age requirement.
I will reserve the bottom of each page for my recommendations and/or the opinions of others.
Children Ages 4 & 5
The number of blasters available for children 4 and 5 years old might be limited compared to the others but that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. There’s still a strong representation of Nerf guns in this section. As you go down the list I’m sure you will find something that will accent your child’s personality and interests.
The blasters in this section will mainly be single fire and very easy to operate.You will find categories represented in this section such as Nerf Assembler Gear which was released in 2018 to support the Marvel franchise.
There are 15 blasters in this family alone for you to choose from.

Children Ages 6 & 7
At ages 6 and 7 there are so many wonderful guns to choose from. This age group will start to expand into other firing modes such as pump action and slam fire. The guns are bigger and more of them require both hands to operate. Batteries will start to become a reality and you will also find a lot more magazine fed instead of single load.
A great example is the Nerf Glowstrike series that was released to support the Star Wars franchise. A collection of blasters that make sounds when fired and also feature glow in the dark ammo.

Glowstrike is definitely where it’s at.
Children Ages 8 & 9
Once you click into this section it will be easy to see that Hasbro has put a lot of focus on this age demographic. A majority of the Nerf guns on the market fall into this recommended age group. Don’t stress it though, as I’ve mentioned before you don’t necessarily have to be 8 or 9 years of age to be successful here. There are some exceptions that make it possible for children a lot younger to have just as much fun with some of these blasters and I will be sure to identify them as we go.
In this section you are going to find just about every firing mode available. Single fire, pump action, slam fire and full auto. Many of these guns will require batteries and will also venture into other reloading methods such as magazines, drums and belt fed.

Zombie Strike is an Awesome Choice For This Age Group
Children Ages 14+
No need to bore you with age requirements here. If it’s listed on this site, it’s safe to add to their arsenal. You wont find a long list of guns in this section but what you will find is a whole new play style. Fast pace and faster shooting. These are the highest velocity and fastest bps blasters Nerf has to offer.
Everything in this section will be centered around Rival products due to them being the only blasters that carry the recommended age stamp of 14+. After you scan through the goods.
If you don’t find what you’re looking for I’d recommend dropping down to a younger age group.
